Andrea Oliva
“Andrea Oliva è uno dei migliori flautisti della sua generazione, una stella brillante nel mondo del flauto”: cosí Sir James Galway definisce Andrea Oliva, Primo flauto solista dell’ Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia, ruolo che ricopre dal 2003.
Nato a Modena nel 1977 si diploma col massimo dei voti in soli 5 anni all’Istituto Musicale “Vecchi-Tonelli” di Modena sotto la guida di G. Betti, perfezionandosi poi con C. Montafia, J. C Gérard e J. Galway ed iniziando subito una brillante carriera.
Già membro effettivo dell’Orchestra Giovanile Gustav Mahler, dopo aver frequentato l’Accademia Herbert von Karajan, è stato invitato, a soli 23 anni, come Primo flauto dai Berliner Philharmoniker sotto la direzione di prestigiose bacchette quali C. Abbado, L. Maazel, V. Gerghiev, S. Oramo, M. Jansons e B. Haitink.
Invitato personalmente da Claudio Abbado, ha suonato con l’ Orchestra Mozart di Bologna e collabora stabilmente come docente all’Accademia dell’Orchestra stessa.
Dal 2001 al 2003 è stato primo flauto dell’Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma e attualmente collabora, nello stesso ruolo, con numerose orchestre quali la Scala di Milano, Bayerische Rundfunk , Orchestra da Camera di Monaco, Bamberg Symphoniker, ORT di Firenze, Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
Si è esibito varie volte in veste di solista con l’Orchestra Nazionale di S.Cecilia diretto C.Hogwood e M.W.Chung e nel marzo 2010 ha eseguito il Concerto di Nielsen con la direzione di Antonio Pappano.
Collabora regolarmente con eminenti artisti quali, A. Lonquich, E. Pace, N. Carusi, A. Hewitt, E. Segre e J. Galway.
E’ membro del Nuovo Quintetto Italiano e del Kaleido Ensemble con i quali si è esibito in America, Europa e Asia.
Fra i numerosi premi vinti nei più importanti concorsi nazionali ed internazionali spiccano il primo premio al Concorso Internazionale di Kobe (primo italiano ad aver ottenuto tale riconoscimento) e il terzo premio al Concorso Internazionale ARD di Monaco.
Apprezzato docente, tiene i corsi di alto perfezionamento all’Accademia S.Cecilia, il biennio per prassi esecutiva orchestrale a Modena e masterclasses in tutto il mondo.
Ha inciso per la “ARTS” il duetto di Beethoven con Michele Marasco, per “Falaut edition” Sonate per flauto e pianoforte per “Chant de Linos” le sonate di Händel. E’ di prossima pubblicazione un DVD didattico sul flauto per la collana ‘Soffia la Musica’ (Edizioni Accademia)” ed il CD con le Sonate di J. S Bach insieme ad Angela Hewitt per “Hyperion”. Nel giugno 2009 è uscito per la rivista Amadeus l’incisione del “Le merle noir” per flauto e pianoforte con il pianista Angelo Pepicelli di Olivier Messiaen. Nel 2012 debutterà come solista alla Wigmor Hall di Londra.
Andrea Oliva is one of the best flutists of his generation, a shining star in the world of flute”: these are the words by means of which Sir James Galway defines Andrea Oliva, principal flutist of Orchestra dell’ Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia in Rome since 2003.
Born in Modena in 1977, he graduated with top results, in five years only, in the Musical Institute Vecchi-Tonelli in Modena. He then specialized with C. Montafia, J. C. Gérard and J. Galway, giving a start to his immediately brilliant career.
He won the International flute competition Kobe in 2005.
Aged 23, already active member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and after attending the Herbert von Karajan Academy, he was invited by Berliner Philharmoniker to take the role of principal flutist, conducted by the prestigious batons of C. Abbado, L. Maazel, V. Gerghiev, S. Oramo, M. Jansons and B. Haitink.
Personally invited by Claudio Abbado, he performed with Orchestra Mozart in Bologna, and he regularly teaches in the orchestra’s Academy.
Between 2001 and 2003 he has been the principal flutist of the Opera Theatre Orchestra in Rome and he presently cooperates, in the same role, with numerous orchestras such as La Scala in Milan, Bayerische Rundfunk, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Bamberg Symphoniker, ORT in Florence, Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
He regularly collaborates with outstanding artists such as A. Lonquich, E. Pace, N. Carusi, A. Hewitt, E. Segre and J. Galway. He has performed several times as a soloist with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia in Rome, guided by M. W Chung, C. Hogwood and A. Pappano.
He is a stable member of Nuovo Quintetto Italiano and Kaleido Ensemble, with both of which he has performed in the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Among the numerous awards received in the most important Italian and international concourses, the first prize in Kobe International Flute Competition (he was the first Italian flutist to achieve such a recognition) and the third prize in the ARD Music Competition in Munich are to be pointed out.
Is professor for the master degree in flute orchestral repertoire at the “Vecchi – Tonelli” Music Istitut in Modena and professor of flute at the Accademia Nazionale S.Cecilia in Rome, as well as Masterclasses all over the world.
He has recorded for ARTS (Beethoven duet, with M° Michele Marasco), for FaLaUt Edition (Prokofiev, Poulenc and Martin Sonatas for Flute and Piano) and for Chant de Linos (Händel Sonatas). Soon to be released is a didactic DVD with teachings on flute for the Soffia la Musica collection, Accademia Editions, as well as the CD recorded with Angela Hewitt for Hyperion (J.S.Bach Sonatas). In June 2009 he has gone out for the magazine Amadeus the incision of the “Le merle noir” for flute and piano with the pianist Angelo Pepicelli of Olivier Messiaen.
In 2012 M° Andrea Oliva will make his debut as a soloist at the Wigmore Hall of London.
