The Wind Quintet comprises internationally acclaimed Italian musicians who are currently members of the orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich, and faculty at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana and the RNCM in Manchester. The five musicians have collaborated with the world's foremost orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Bayerischer Staatsorchester, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Human Rights Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony, and have performed on the world's most prestigious stages, including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York.
The wind quintet, comparable in importance to the string quartet, represents the most complete and richest ensemble formation for wind instruments both in terms of sound and repertoire. The group's aim is to recreate, through this richly varied combination of instruments, the full breadth of orchestral timbres, while celebrating the professional experience and individual personalities of its members, who have been awarded prizes at prestigious international competitions including the ARD, Kobe, Jugendmusik Wettbewerb in Zurich, and Jeunesses Musicales in Bucharest. The ensemble's particular strength lies in the special musical understanding that has grown from daily interaction, deep mutual respect, and the bonds of friendship among its members; their orchestral experience, passion for chamber music, and a keen sense of listening come together in a project that approaches the repertoire with rigour, expressive freedom, and a genuine joy of making music together.
